History
Our story starts way back
Nomad RISE Initiative Kenya is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and community-based organization (CBO), registered under the laws of Kenya. The organization is dedicated to empowering marginalized populations, including host communities, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups, through inclusive, locally led development initiatives. While headquartered in Turkana County, our mandate extends to communities across Kenya and, where relevant, within the wider East and Horn of Africa region. Guided by the principles of the Shirika Plan and other inclusive development frameworks, we promote peaceful coexistence, equitable service delivery, and resilience-building. MISSION
To empower marginalized and vulnerable populations, including host communities, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other at-risk groups, through locally led development initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence, equitable service delivery, and long-term resilience across Kenya and the wider East and Horn of Africa region.
Our Objectives
- Strengthen sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment opportunities for marginalized communities, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups.
- Improve access to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for children, youth, and adults, regardless of their status or location.
- Promote peacebuilding, social cohesion, and inclusive governance among diverse communities.
- Support protection systems, human rights advocacy, and Advancing Democracy for at-risk populations.
- Advance gender equality, youth leadership, and women’s empowerment across all operational areas.
- Foster community-driven climate resilience, environmental protection, and sustainable natural resource management.
- Enhance access to primary healthcare and promote Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).
- Expand partnerships and networks to scale impact across Kenya and, where relevant, in the wider East and Horn of Africa region.
- Deliver timely and coordinated humanitarian assistance during emergencies such as drought, floods, and displacement.
- Promote community-led data, research, and participatory Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).
